Toshio Furukawa (and his adorable translator) at his panel, “The World of Toshio Furukawa,” this past Sunday at Animazement.

IT WAS. SO. GLORIOUS. I cried the first time he spontaneously transitioned into Piccolo’s voice. huge crocodile tears down mah face.

He gave so many anecdotes about the various characters he’s played over the years and about his co-workers, including Akira Kamiya, Toru Furuya, Joji Yanami, and Yasuo Yamada. He gave samples of Piccolo, Ace, Kai Shiden, Ataru Moroboshi, and did some impressions of Kamiya, Yamada, Yanami, and his wife. :x

Best industry anecdote, from the larger DBZ panel the previous day: When it was made public that Vegeta and Bulma had a child, Toru Furuya called up Akira Toriyama and asked, “Why—why not Yamucha?!”

Finally, he signed my Piccolo figurine :) and I felt so proud because he went “oooh!” when I handed it to him, haha.
