I was never a Yamucha stan but I really, really, really do not understand why he’s so reviled as a character (beyond TFS jokes, of course—which is a really pathetic response and speaks to how sheepish some fans evidently are).   Well, between TFS and the dub anyway, because he was saddled with a terrible voice and his dialogue was completely steamrolled. FUNi was pro at character assassination back in the day, man. (Ultimate case in point: Chichi.)
